CIVIL WATER
Conservation and quality assurance of municipal water in the crossborder area
The CIVILWATER project aims to improve the sustainable management of municipal water resources in urban areas, by developing common standards and applying modern technologies in Greece and Bulgaria, in accordance with EU and national legislation. The project has individual objectives, such as developing methodological standards for monitoring and utilizing municipal water, implementing these standards in municipalities through the establishment of automated systems for monitoring water quality and quantity, identifying leaks and pollutants, and efficiently using water.
The project also aims to assess the implementation and adequacy of methodological standards in response to local needs and legislative requirements, as well as establish a cross-border support mechanism for the sustainable use of municipal waters. EUROACTION A.E. provided technical and advisory support to the Decentralized Administration of Macedonia Thrace (Lead Partner) for project management and implementation, including the development of common methodological standards for integrated water management in urban areas, creating a register of protected areas for drinking water (ADMTH), and operational evaluation of rational urban water management applications, such as designing and installing pilot systems in the Municipality of Oreokastro.
