Neighborhood Social Planning and Development
The NebSoc project focuses on improving the quality of life of the residents in the intervention areas, in Greece and Italy. By creating a single strategy for both countries, the project strengthens both the economic and social development of these areas, practically giving all residents, and especially socially vulnerable groups, the opportunity to improve their quality of life .
Goals
The project, using new information and communication technologies (ICTs), aims to identify social inequalities in the intervention areas, attempting an integrated approach to addressing social problems. Individual objectives of the project are:
- Enhancing the efficiency of services (such as health care, education, vocational training).
- The improvement of social inclusion issues in the program area, leading to the improvement of the individual’s quality of life.
- The minimization of conditions that exclude vulnerable social groups.
- The use of innovative technological tools, such as GIS, capable of improving the information dissemination system and facilitating communications.
- The creation of networks and common social inclusion protocols.
- The support of cross-border cooperation in social issues (work, health, employment, education, etc.).
Contribution
EUROACTION A.E. took the initiative to formulate the proposal and find funding for the project. At the implementation level, our company provided consulting services for the management and coordination of the project to the Municipality of Patreon (Lead Partner) as well as to the Social Organization of the Municipality of Patreon.
In addition, our company implemented a set of project actions such as:
- Study on recognition of social dynamics in the area of Patras.
- Development of an Internet portal with integrated social GIS and e-learning applications.
- Organization of a three-day workshop related to issues of social inclusion.
- Compilation of a good practice guide.
- Development of a social inclusion plan and pilot implementation of this plan.
- Promotion and publicity activities of the project: preparation of a communication plan, creation of printed and digital information material, presentation of the project in the media as well as organization of an information event for the public in Greece.
- Evaluation of the pilot application of the project.
