IT SPA TOURISM
Development of Spa Tourism in the border region with the use of innovative IT services
The “IT SPA TOURISM” project concerns the implementation of an integrated information system for spa tourism accompanied by electronic health services, electronic reservations and a shopping center, turning the spas into health tourism centers.
Goals
- Upgrading the tourist product and attracting visitors from abroad.
- Improving service for people with special needs and the elderly.
- Recording and consolidating information of tourist businesses in the area and creating a central point of access to them.
- Creating a benchmark for hot springs.
- Increase – in the long term – the employment of staff in the thermal springs.
- Increase in traffic and decrease in the seasonality of tourists.
Discrimination
The “IT SPA TOURISM” project was presented in the framework of the 1st Conference of European Territorial Cooperation for the promotion of good practices, held in Thessaloniki in May 2014, in the thematic category “Culture – Tourism – Local products” due to the innovative nature of the project and the its contribution to the development of the cross-border region.
Contribution
EUROACTION A.E. took the initiative to formulate the proposal and find funding for the project. At the level of implementation, our company provided the lead partner of the project (Association of Municipalities of Thermal Springs of Greece) a set of services related to the management, coordination and implementation of the project.
The actions he implemented in the context of the project include indicatively:
- The preparation of a strategic development study of spa tourism through the utilization of e-health and e-tourism systems.
- The design and development of an interactive web portal with integrated e-tourism, e-health systems as well as a direct information system.
- The supply and installation of technological equipment.
