AQUA-LITY
The project “Application of innovative techniques for improving drinking water quality in urban areas” with the acronym “Aqua-lity”, is implemented within the framework of the European Territorial Cooperation Program Interreg V-A Greece – Bulgaria 2014-2020, which is co-financed by the European Union.
Target
The main objective of the project is to enhance the quality of drinking water and reduce health risks. This will be achieved by implementing an innovative early warning system for water pollution and a drainage system.
Expected results
- Improving the quality of drinking water in Oreokastro, suitable for human consumption.
- Contribution to the improvement of the state of health and the standard of living in the region.
- Tackling pollution from urban sewage and agriculture and protecting citizens from exposure to health risks associated with drinking contaminated water through the early warning system.
- reduction of operational and management costs of drinking water management due to early identification and/or prevention of potential accidents.
- reduction of water-related sanitation problems which will lead to further economic benefits due to improved health conditions and consequently reduction of public expenditure on health care services.
- gaining significant expertise in the application of innovative technologies to monitor and improve drinking water quality.
- development of tools to support and facilitate water monitoring.
- enhancing public awareness of water conservation issues and the importance of water hygiene through publicity actions.
Contribution
EUROACTION A.E. provided technical and advisory support for the management and implementation of the project to the Municipality of Oreokastro (Partner 2). Individual actions implemented within the project include:
